Love and Connection Are All Around
Valentine’s Day is this week, and I’ve been thinking about love and connection.
Valentine’s Day tends to focus on romantic love with one person. But there are so many other sources of love and connection all around us, such as:
Friends – do you make time to connect with your friends? Even just a quick text to say, “Hi, I’m thinking about you” can mean a lot in our busy lives.
Animals – do you take time to cuddle with your pets? My black lab Reesie is such a cuddler, she really would like to be a lap dog! I need to remind myself to spend more time snuggling with her because when I do, it makes us both happy.
Strangers – we have opportunities for social connection throughout our days if we’re open to it. Taking an extra moment to ask the grocery clerk how their day is going, smiling and saying hi to people walking by on the street, striking up a conversation with another parent waiting to pick our kids up from school – choosing to connect rather than be isolated.
Nature – we are deeply intertwined with the natural world and making time every day to honor that connection can be very nourishing to our hearts.
If you can’t get outside right now, just imagine you are sitting in one of your favorite places.
Feel the sun on your face, freely giving warmth and life energy.
Listen to the birds singing a free concert.
See the beautiful trees that provide oxygen for us to breathe and absorb harmful carbon dioxide.
Let yourself sink into the unconditional love and abundance of nature all around and know that’s available to you all the time.
I wish you a happy Valentine’s Day and an abundance of love and connection in your life.
