Build Your Confidence
How would your life be different if you had more self-confidence?
I recently heard about a fun way to build more confidence – it's called the Daily Dare Challenge.
The way the challenge works is to do something that scares you every day – the Daily Dare.
The dares can be anything you want; you get to decide.
For the month of August, each day I’ll do something that scares me.
I've been working on my list of dares.
Most of them have to do with being more visible and speaking up about things I care about, since those are areas where I especially want to build more confidence.
Some of my dares feel pretty easy, such as wearing a baseball cap with my favorite politician’s name on it on my daily walk.
Others feel more challenging, like sharing live and recorded videos on my Facebook page.
To get the most out of the Daily Dare Challenge, I’ll be journaling every day about the thoughts and feelings that come up.
That will help me learn more about how my brain tries to stop me from doing things it thinks might be dangerous (but really aren’t).
Would you like to be more confident?
If so, I encourage you to experiment with dares – actions that are a little outside your comfort zone.
The dares can be anything. Some other dares I’ve heard about include:
Ask for an outrageous discount (or ask to get something for free)
Wear something that is sexier or sillier than you normally would wear
Sing loudly on your daily walk
Ask for a raise
24-hour fast
The only criteria - something that makes you a little scared.
To get the most out of your dare, try this 4-step process:
1) notice and write about all the thoughts and feelings that come up before you do the activity
2) do the activity
3) notice and write about all the thoughts and feelings that come up after - what did you learn?
4) celebrate!
I’d love to hear about your Daily Dares! Send an email to liz@happybrainlife.com and let me know.
Take good care of your precious self. Our world needs you!
Hugs,
Liz
