Do More of What You Love
Love is the most powerful force in the universe.
When we are around people we love and/or doing things we love, our brains release a cascade of hormones that are healing and strengthening for our bodies, minds, and spirits.
The same is true even when we just think about things/people we love.
What do you love?
What are your favorite places, activities, colors, music, textures, tv shows, movies, books, art, foods, smells, tastes, sounds, etc.?
Start making a list and keep adding to it as you think of more things that you love.
Look for ways to add more of what you love into your life.
Who do you love spending time with?
Who lifts your spirits, makes you laugh, makes you feel happy and appreciated?
Seek out those people (and animals) and spend as much time with them as you can.
Fill your mind with thoughts of what you love, including happy memories and dreams for the future.
We were raised in a culture that teaches us to prioritize mental concepts like duty and practicality over listening to and valuing our hearts.
But science is learning that our hearts actually are more powerful than our brains - our hearts send more information to our brains than our brains send to our hearts (search “heart brain” for more info).
When our hearts are happy, they send messages to our brains that all is well and then our brains release happy, healing hormones into our bodies rather than stress hormones.
Focusing on what we love is rejuvenating to our bodies, minds, and spirits.
One of the key things that helped me recover from chronic illness was learning to fall in love with life again.
What is one simple thing you can do today to bring more of what/who you love into your life?
Love,
Liz
