3 Great Books!
Dear Friend,
I’m so excited to share with you three wonderful books that have been inspiring me!
The first is a beautiful book written by a friend of my daughter. She wrote it for young women who are interested in making change in their communities, and it would make a great gift for all the young women in your life!
The book’s lessons are universal and practical, so anyone who wants to be involved with making change will find it helpful.
The other two books present empowering new perspectives on health and aging.
Here are the books (descriptions by publisher):
Don’t Wait: Three Girls Who Fought for Change and Won, by Sonali Kohli
“Girls of color have always been on the front lines of the fight for equal rights—to vote, to learn, to live—even when they are the last to benefit from the outcomes of their work. In Don’t Wait, journalist Sonali Kohli follows 3 teenagers’ efforts to make their communities safer, healthier places.”
The Well-Lived Life: A 102-Year-Old Doctor's Six Secrets to Health and Happiness at Every Age, by Gladys McGarey, M.D.
“Dr. Gladys McGarey, cofounder of the American Holistic Medical Association, began her medical practice at a time when women couldn’t even have their own bank accounts. Over the past sixty years, she has pioneered a new way of thinking about disease and health that has transformed the way we imagine health care and self-care around the world.”
Breaking the Age Code: How Your Beliefs About Aging Determine How Long and Well You Live, by Becca Levy, PhD
“Yale professor and leading expert on the psychology of successful aging, Dr. Becca Levy, draws on her ground-breaking research to show how age beliefs can be improved so they benefit all aspects of the aging process, including the way genes operate and the extension of life expectancy by 7.5 years.”
