What Does Being a Good Ancestor Mean to You?
Have you considered what being a good ancestor means to you?
Is that important to you?
Is it possible to be a good ancestor even if you don’t have children?
When you get to the end of your life and look back, how will you know if you were a good ancestor?
I’ve been reflecting on what being a good ancestor means to me, prompted by Layla Saad’s wonderful Good Ancestor podcast.
For me right now, being a good ancestor means making effort in three areas of life:
Personal – letting go of unhealthy patterns and social conditioning that may have been passed down for generations, creating new healthy patterns in my life, seeking to evolve in myself and in my relationships
Society – do what I can to contribute to our human family, such as being kind and compassionate, speaking up for racial and social justice, doing what I can to make a difference
Earth – love and appreciate nature, do what I can to treat the earth as well as possible
These are some of my current ideas about what being a good ancestor means to me.
What does being a good ancestor mean to you? I’d love to know.
